I guess I must be older now
I can no longer pull the plow
I wonder what will happen now
What ever happened to the Old Brown Cow
Set to pastures like being set aside
No longer able to keep astride
The cutting edge cuts deep your pride
But still those feelings you must hide
Like a head counted in a herd
Your voice alone cannot be heard
So you speak collectively
You only see what the others see
Is this the way it is when you
Get old and can no longer do
The things you did when you were you
All the things that you used to do
At times you feel alone in crowd
In a place of worship you shout out loud
You were once so strong so proud
Now you`re covered by an aging shroud
You`re in the school yard when someone fell
Now you`re waiting for the bell
Your mind is young your body`s not well
Though you walk tall the young ones can tell
I guess I must be older now
I can no longer pull the plow
I wonder what will happen now
What ever happened to the Old Brown Cow
I guess we must be older now
Those who can no longer pull the plow
I wonder what will happen now
What ever happened to the Old Brown Cow
I wonder what will happen now
What ever happened to the Old Brown Cow
I wonder what will happen now
What ever happened to the Old Brown Cow
What ever happened to the Old Brown Cow
What ever happened to the Old Brown Cow

Clock
at the point where it won't stretch any more
to the right then to the left and back again
imagine if it were as easy as a shift and slide
moving the old things from side to side
clothes in a pile like shed skin on the floor
all but forgotten behind the closet door
wash the dirt off shed this blanket of filth
so you can see me naked now let me see you
pull and stretch me, touch me and explore me
like a gentle cavity search then more intense
ripped open and torn down like a fence
expanding on the inside and pulling outside
tearing me apart looking for my heart
the piece of the puzzle you broke at the start
the pendulum swings slower and slower
the more time ticks away the louder we shout
the louder we shout the quicker time runs out
to the point where there is no more time left
shake the clock to get one more tick
and hope like hell to get the tock
days and weeks then years fly by
life is short and time keeps moving on
with some left it's the last thing on your mind
but when it runs out you're watching the clock
finally knowing what seconds mean
lying still I feel the rain of your tears
wash away the years wash this body clean
captured in pictorial symphony
remembered in words that came to me
I wish for happiness to come from this
shake it the clock won't tick any more
shake it like you did before
shake it the clock won't tick any more
shake it like you did before shake it
shake it shake it wind it shake it
shake it I guess there is no more
to the right then to the left and back again
imagine if it were as easy as a shift and slide

Witness
O my God, O my Lord
They stood by
they ignored you
Thinking they
were doing good
pleased with themselves
as they stood by
and watched you die
What they gave you
I'd take away
I would give you me
The one thing have
And I guarantee
you'd be here today
Dear Jesus, Holy Son of God
How could things like happen
you gave us one and all
so much pain and some of us
are less strong and unable
to cope the extent of pain
your hand has dealt
if may make a request
shuffle the deck again My Lord
then deal the cards as follows
deal the cards of pain to me
and then deal out the rest
I live a life of pain already
A little more pain for me
and I can help many feel free
Sometimes abuse
is an innocent mistake
it's the wrong pill to take
why lead us into temptation
when we're deep in pain
It's easy Lord when you're
not thinking straight
to take the wrong turn
to make a mistake
Give me strength to carry the word
and me give the power to heal
to take away the pain
and close the wound
You've given power
to others before me
different from them perhaps
But I too put you before me
Let my words be weight
And my contact be great
I have fears of my own
And pain as you well know
But I am willing to take on more
If it pleases you today
So dear Lord I`m ready, are you
I have the tools
I know the rules
I may walk through the valley
in the shadow of death
though I fear not the reaper
I shall not suffer or die
I will not be a martyr in eye
If you're ready to play so am I
As I stand here before you today
It feels different to me
what about you does it too
I know I have changed
but then you have too
Through the confusion though
I see a bright light heading my way
Let me be the one to show others the way.
They stood by

It don't come easy
It don't come easy
It ain't that hard to see
It don't come easy
In fact it don't come at all for me
I had a good life
But I gave it all away
I gave part of it to a needle
As for the rest
I cannot say
I have the heart of a young man
Bent broken and sore
I have the mind of a young man
I can't be him anymore
I could have met a woman
Instead I met myself
Somewhere between the needle
And the medicine on the shelf
It don't come easy
It ain't that hard to see
It don't come easy
In fact it don't come at all for me
I made decisions
and every day I pay
For the things I did
Mistakes I made
when choices came my way
I had a good life
But I gave it all away
It don't come easy
It ain't that hard to see
It don't come easy
In fact it don't come at all for me
I am stuck and frustrated
With the heart of a young man
Bent broken and sore
The mind of a young man
Who I can't be anymore
It don't come easy
It ain't that hard to see
It don't come easy
In fact it don't come at all for me
It don't come easy
It ain't that hard to see
It don't come easy
In fact it don't come at all for me
It don't come at all for me
No, no, no...
It don't come at all
for
me
It ain't that hard to see
It don't come easy
In fact it don't come at all for me
I had a good life
But I gave it all away
I gave part of it to a needle

Thought #175
Time changes everything
Time changes you and me
Time changes everything
Things worth remembering
Things are never the way they were
Even things that reoccur
Time changes everything
We are not who we were
You’re not who you used to be
And I’m not the same old me
I remember days gone by
That special look in our eyes
We each knew
Exactly what to do
Time changes everything
Look at me
Look at you
Time changes everything
No matter what we do
Time changes everything.
Time changes you and me
Time changes everything
Things worth remembering
Things are never the way they were
Even things that reoccur
Time changes everything
We are not who we were
You’re not who you used to be
And I’m not the same old me
I remember days gone by
That special look in our eyes
We each knew
Exactly what to do
Time changes everything
Look at me
Look at you
Time changes everything
No matter what we do
Time changes everything.
