If I’m ever too old
to snuggle close and hold you
would you still love me?
Would you take care of me
if I no longer could?
Thoughts of uncertainty
cannot be denied
But I know that you would
by the way I feel inside
Someone famous once asked a question
That I must ask to be sure
“will you still love me, will you still need me,
when I’m sixty-four?”
Hard of hearing
Eyesight failing
Body stiff and sore
With so many ailments
Life tries to even the score
But as long as we’re together
who could ever ask for anything more!?
