The Unit

Seven days now
I’ve been above the ground
The earth trembles with every sound
The sun is so bright
As I move around
Trying to figure out a part of my life
A part of my life that’s gone
Apprehension, I’m uncertain what to do
Anticipation, of what is yet to come
Seven days now
I’ve been above ground
The night is so cold
As I move around
Trying to figure out a part of my life
A part of my life that’s gone
I feel like I’m sitting on the edge of a knife
Trying to figure out a part of my life
But it’s hard to see
From where I stand
It’s hard to see what happened to me
Black coffee and cigarettes fuel me
Drive me
To the place where I can see
The last place that I saw me
I’m tired and feel so alone
I’ve been buried, like a bone
In the desert
Far from home
Seven days now
I’ve been above ground
But I’m touching down
I’m coming home
I found my way back
to the Unit
to the front door.
