Rose tinted glasses

If I have to wear those rose tinted glasses
Then I'm not sure that I can do this
For if life were always bright and full of sunshine
I would not need them nor would I even ever care
Without the drab or boring days
The days when the sun doesn't shine
We'd have nothing to compare
to
Or ever look forward
to
We'd never know when we are fine

Not long ago I saw the light of day
That same day you went away
Like the wind on a sunny day
You went away
So please take these shades away from me
I don't want to see
The things that are not real to me
Let me see the things I need to see
Let me see them exactly as they are

So if I have to wear those rose tinted glasses
I'm not sure that I can do this
Perhaps someday in the pouring rain
Or if you should pass my way again
I'll find the time to realize
