Imagine, if you will, a person, someone not unlike yourself who works for a living. They are married and have family which includes their two children, a boy and a girl. This person is a hard working, loyal and sincere. Working at the same place for the past 8 years. As you can imagine several relationships and friendships happened along the way. Special events and occasions were openly accepted and promoted by the company and BBQ's with musical entertainment were held, breakfast was served at Christmas, not to mention the company dinners and such. It was a group that was as tight as any family it seemed. In fact one of the company's main focus is on family.
Now, the person in question is involved in a serious accident on their way from an 8 hour night shift. That day they made contact with co-workers informing them of the situation. As one can expect it took a day for the severity of the personal injuries became apparent. Unable to return to work at the present time due to their injury, they contacted the office and informed them keeping them up to date.
One week passed and no on called. Two weeks passed and no one called. Months passed and not one phone call, email, or unexpected visits from any of the co-workers who might be wondering or be concerned, not a one. The months now bring us to Christmas. There are more functions around this time than any other time of year. There is a breakfast served to over 4000 people, a company Christmas dinner, a company Santa Claus night for the kids, not to mention the overall festive spirit during the entire time. Not one phone call or invite or even just a hello, no, not a one.
What should this person be feeling?
What should this person do?
What would you be feeling and/or do?
