It’s a struggle
An uphill climb
The harder I try

One step forward
Then a few steps behind
Always smoking
But never catching fire
Rolling with the punches
Dealing with a liar
Never quite making it
When the stakes keep getting higher
Don’t know if I can make it this time
I’ve stepped to far beyond the line

Being fair may not be the only way to be
But it’s all I know and it’s only the way for me
The problem lies within the honesty
The problem I’ve been told lies within me
I chased the rainbow only to find
It goes on forever
But in time I did find
What I already know

Empty, black space
